BIOCOM and the San Diego Workforce Partnership are excited to announce the graduation of the second cohort of high school teachers to complete the Life Sciences Summer Institute’s (LSSI) teacher externship program. The program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor grant, provides biology, chemistry, and physics teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to better prepare our future scientists.

The four-week externship program was offered to 20 high school teachers this summer, representing eight school districts throughout San Diego County. Biogen Idec generously hosted the teachers in their Community Laboratory facility, which was designed by Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects, throughout the four-week program.
